"Ward 1 needs an advocate that meets with neighbors, listens to their concerns, understands the issues, and acts to get results. My record shows that I have been a strong advocate for Ward 1 residents for over seven years."
-- Kent Boese
Kent’s record of service to the community includes over 2,300 service requests and counting to repair potholes, graffiti, damaged and missing signs, and illegal dumping. Giving people the level of service they deserve ensures that all who live in the District can enjoy a higher quality of life.
Ward 1’s attractive architecture, housing that includes both apartment and single-family home living options, and the density of the Ward allows neighbors to directly engage each other, resulting in a stronger sense of community.
Kent is committed to finding ways to making our streets, sidewalks, and bike trails safe and in good repair for all those who use them.
Education & Parks
Kent's record shows a strong commitment to education and providing quality buildings where children can learn and where teachers can be successful. He continues to advocate for the improvement and expansion of the District's recreation centers.
Kent wants to strengthen the Senior Citizen Homestead deduction. Kent's assistance to seniors ranges from basic constituent services to advocating for expanding housing options so they can age in place.
Small Business & Jobs
When he see vacant commercial storefronts in Ward 1, Kent sees lost job opportunities for Ward 1 residents. He will level the playing field for our small and local business.
Public Health & Safety
The District needs infrastructure in good repair, well-staffed and funded social service agencies, and to strengthen relationships between residents, business owners, and the police officers in our communities.
Housing & Development
Kent believes that the City should only use tax abatements and other incentives for the creation of deeply affordable housing for residents earning $30,000-$50,000 a year or less.
Hello, Ward 1!
My name is Kent Boese and I'm excited to announce my candidacy for the Ward 1 Democratic primary for the DC Council. I'm running to be the next Ward 1 Councilmember because I'm committed to ensuring that our district government meets the needs of all residents.
Restoring Ward 1's long legacy of excellent constituent services on issues both large and small is one of my top priorities. And I'll be the progressive advocate that maintains the rich diversity of our Ward as it continues to grow and prosper.
Because of our shared values, I'll be your champion to ensure that your voice has a seat at the table and is fairly represented among all those who live in the district and work hard to make it a great, inclusive community.
I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail.
