WASHINGTON, DC – Kent Boese, candidate for the D.C. Council Ward 1 seat, released the following statement on his positive candidate questionnaire rating by All Walks D.C.:
“Yesterday, I was delighted to learn that All Walks D.C. positively rated my responses to their candidate questionnaire, performing significantly stronger than the incumbent on almost all of the questions asked. As an ANC Chair and Commissioner, I have placed an emphasis on pedestrian safety by working with DDOT to fix sidewalks, ensure they are ADA compliant, and by supporting further study into traffic patterns to understand how we can making walking in D.C. safer. Like many of us, I rely on walking as a primary mode of transportation, which means maintaining our sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and traffic safety must be a priority, especially at the Council level. I am incredibly appreciative of All Walks D.C.’s effort to read and rate all the candidate responses. I look forward to continue working with All Walks D.C. and local community leaders to increase pedestrian safety and keep D.C. a walkable city.”
All Walks DC advocates for citywide solutions to make the District of Columbia a place where walking is celebrated and respected as a basic human right. Everyone is a pedestrian. Walking is the most universal and accessible mode of travel in DC and is essential to quality of life. Their top priority is safety. All Walks DC believes we can create a city where there are zero pedestrian injuries or fatalities through changes not just to our infrastructure but also to our shared culture around how we live and move in the city. They seek to engage our elected officials, agency leaders, and police to join them in building a sense of urgency on behalf of the safety and convenience of pedestrians.
